With the Scharnhorst, COBI brings another German battleship onto the market, which despite its smaller size contains more parts than the Bismarck. This has a noticeable effect on the level of detail.
Construction
At Scharnhorst, we start directly with the bow, which consists of a lot of building direction reversals. Slopes and tiles are installed on both sides.
After the bow has got the printed coat of arms and the anchor chains, the front hull is built, for which plenty of plates are built.
We then place the already built bow on this part. Then it goes on with the rear, as this model consists of only 2 parts, while the larger sets had front, rear and middle part. After the 3 propellers have been attached, we can already admire the Scharnhorst in its full length.
In the following construction steps, the Schanrhorst gets its deck and the cladding, which is attached to the hull in many separate construction steps.
Now the complex part begins. The ship superstructures consist of numerous details and printed parts. In some places a little skill is required. Many a mast has to be aligned again and again until it is finally correctly positioned.
In the last step, the 3 main guns are built, which consist of triple cannons. The only thing missing is the base, which is identical to that of the other COBI ship models.
Conclusion:
In contrast to the previous models, COBI has once again significantly increased the level of detail. Despite the smaller size, more parts are installed. The result is a great ship with lots of printed parts and beautiful details.
