Construction

The construction of the base plate gives an idea of how big the tiger will end up being. The same construction technology is used here as with some newer 1:35 and 1:48 models. Instead of plates, 90° bricks are used, which ensures a smooth, stud-free floor. New parts are used for the suspension. Unfortunately, it ultimately doesn’t work very well. The rollers are more likely to buckle than to spring. The space for the driver is very detailed and has lots of prints. All walls are anchored multiple times and are therefore very stable. You don’t have to be careful where you touch the model.

The rear offers enough space for the machine and the massive gearbox. The grenades have also been thought of; there are 24 of them in the compartments on the sides. The tracks are of course also much larger than anything we have seen from COBI before. They run great as long as you drive straight ahead. Even on small curves they wobble back and forth on the rollers. During tighter curves or a turn, they quickly end up next to the tank. The guidance through the gears is far too small. The turret is of course huge and does not just consist of the upper part.

The entire interior up to the bottom of the hullmust be built. Each crew member has their place. The massive gun is built separately and then embedded in the turret. The entire cannon barrel is only connected at the end. The side parts consist of 4 separately built parts and are shaped using ball bearings. This works really well and is very stable. The roof has large hatches and is only loosely placed on the turret. 2 tiles then fix it on the side. This monster is finished.

Conclusion:

No other manufacturer will be able to beat this size so quickly, although I am very excited to hear the response from the manufacturers in the Far East. However, you have to be an enthusiastic person to afford this model. It costs just under EUR 600 at COBI and other providers only offer a discount of a few euros. If you are willing to invest the money, you will get a lot of building fun and a model that is currently unrivaled on the shelf or in the display case, provided you have the necessary storage space.
