Construction
We start with this model with the fuselage, which is significantly more stable than its predecessor thanks to large molded parts. However, COBI also uses some very questionable construction techniques that I otherwise only know from Chinese manufacturers. Larger plates only rest on the corners and bend a lot when you press on them. It is often difficult to press parts onto it without loosening other areas again. I have lined these places with small plates, so there are no problems with that. This time, the windows consist of large printed, translucent bricks instead of numerous stickers that are stuck over many bricks. The old model really had a lot of stickers. The rest of the hull is very stable apart from the small door. This is extremely wobbly and can hardly be closed. When you open it, it also likes to break it down into its components.
The next step is the wing construction, of which the middle part is completely finished first. By reversing the direction of construction, it is completely tiled on both sides and is correspondingly stable.
The wings are built individually and then attached at a slight angle. This looks far more like a model than was the case with its predecessor. The engines and propellers have become smaller than in the old version. In contrast to this, there is now a solid base with the new, transparent recordings.
Conclusion:
The new version is impressive and offers some serious changes. So it’s not just a simple remake, as we unfortunately see again and again with many other models. The stickers have been completely replaced by prints and the proportions have been adjusted. We were also presented with a real stand this time. Even the price is quite good for the size. Other planes with fewer parts cost significantly more.
