Instructions

Even if many prints were placed in this set, there is a small sheet of stickers in the instructions. This includes 2 stickers for the rear, which go over a lot of plates. A print here would be really very time-consuming. The instructions contain a two-page parts list and 94 construction steps, which have been divided into 2 construction phases.

Construction

First, we build the middle part from numerous panels. These sit very tightly so that they arch after several layers. The flat tiles on the underside were a bit of a challenge, as several plates hang in the air and were only fixed with one or two knobs.

After tiling from both sides, the whole thing got more stability and individual parts did not fall off. At this point we also start with the first add-on parts, in which a lot of reversal of the construction direction is used.

The tail of this aircraft is significantly wider than we are used to from historical models. After several layers of plates and the completely built rear wings have been attached, we put the entire construction step on the middle part.

Now the wings are finally getting their hinged end pieces. This was not shown on any of the product pictures. Even if the pilot is seated in the cockpit without legs again, this time they have been packed into the set. You can also place it next to your machine as a decoration. The F / A-18 has plenty of prints in and around the cockpit.

It’s time for the landing gear and armament. The set includes some additional stones that can be exchanged for the chassis. Why you should do that is a mystery to me. The large additional tank is a little fiddly. The stones can be stuck in well, but the rubbers are very tight and need a little dexterity before they sit properly.

The tail unit at the rear is built entirely from bricks. Unfortunately, large stickers are used here. Finally, only the usual stand is built and the model is ready.

Conclusion:

Even if the construction was a bit bumpy at the beginning due to the air connections, in the end a beautiful and stable model came out. With the additional black and blue, the limited edition looks a little more chic than the completely gray colleague.
